First that little event in Little Rock—You might have seen Bono there at the William Jefferson Clinton Library opening. Polshek Partnership continues to generate good press. The $20 million addition to UNC-Chapel Hill’s Ackland Art Museum proceeds on with bids and demolition scheduled soon.

In West Virginia, Grove & Dall’Olio Architects have a $1.2 million project to build a 9,000 sf home in Moundsville for the state’s archeological exhibits.

The Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut had proposed a $35 million, 500,000 sf project with Shoenhardt Architects, Inc. The two buildings would provide 40,000 sf of theater space and 60,000 sf of staff housing.

Einhorn Yaffee Prescott Architects are designers for a $20 million alteration at Morgan State University in Baltimore that will renovate Banneker Hall into a school of education, urban studies and a campus communications hub.

The Lofts on Paradise in Las Vegas is a development by New Urban Development of New York City. Rafael Vinoly Architects has been chosen to design the 500,000+ sf, 16-story condominium project on Paradise Road.

The $24 million, 100,000 sf addition at UC-Santa Barbara’s Davidson Library is in development by Pfeiffer Partners.

Anyone for gambling in Iowa? Harrah’s is investing $85 million in renovating/rebranding its Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs. The renovation of the former Bluffs Run Casino will be designed by Hnedak Bobo Group of Memphis. 250 slots, a 20-table poker room are some of the improvements expected to increase gaming space by nearly 70 percent.

Seton Hill’s new University Arts Center is to include music, theater, gallery and other arts space. Designer is MacLachlan Cornelius & Filoni Architects of Pittsburgh.

The Underwater World Aquarium in Grapevine, Texas, will be designed by Rim Architecture of San Francisco.

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership is on board to help handle some of Seattle’s transit growing pains. The firm will design the city’s Sound Transit Light Rail Stations to link several north stops, but construction appears some time off.

Children’s Medical Center in Dallas is a $100 million project with 300,000 sf and seven stories, in masterplanning by FKP Architects.

Masterplanning for growing liberal arts campus at Elon University in North Carolina is being done by Spillman Farmer Shoemaker Pell and Wildin of Bethlehem, Penn.
n Earl Swensson Associates of Nashville is the architect/masterplanner for a $77 million addition to Scottsdale, Arizona’s healthcare center.

A quarter-million sf market center on Chicago’s lakeshore has a masterplan by SOM, and design by Kaplan McLaughlin Diaz. The Lakeshore East Market Center is being developed by the city’s Magellan Group.

Salem, Oregon’s Central Computer Facility is a $20 million project with Yost Grube Hall Architecture as designer. The 60,000 sf building will serve as a government communications center.

In Ft. Walton Beach, Fla, the city has hired Quina Grundhoeffer Royal of nearby Pensacola to design a $5 million addition to its municipal auditorium. Plans are to increase seating, enlarge the stage and lobby and add a black box theater.

Fentress Bradburn of Denver has completed design development for the new 62,000 sf Skyline College Student Union in San Bruno, Calif. The estimated budget is $20 million for the two-building, two-story project.

In Jackson, Miss., Cooke douglass Farr Lemonds is building a Trisonic Wind Tunnel for the University of Mississippi.

One of the granddaddies of the gaming industry, Caesar’s, is building a resort in Temecula, Calif. The 3 million sf development, to be designed by Paul Steelman Ltd. of Las Vegas will include a 100,000+ sf casino and 500 units spread over a 30-acre site.

In Milwaukee, Pentagram and Hammel Green and Abrahamson have designed several phases of the Harley Davidson Museum on 7th and Canal Streets.

Elkus/Manfredi Architects is masterplanning a north Hollywood cinema/retail complex. The valley plaza redevelopment involves 400,000 sf and an estimated $80 million budget.

East Carolina University’s Pavilion Suites alteration/addition is a $50 million project in Greenville; a complex of medical/education space involving 17,000 sf, designed by BBH Design, based in N.C.’s Research Triangle.
