Janette Sadik-Khan, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation, is a gifted, innovate planner with the heart of an advocate who is transforming many of the most congested and problematic streets into pedestrian-friendly green spaces. Sadik-Khan was awarded the 2011 Jane Jacobs Medal for New Ideas and Activism by the Rockefeller Foundation at a ceremony in New York.
