The “2008 Sustainable Design Survey,” which gauges the opinions of principals in best-in-class firms, indicates that most are happy with their organizations’ progress toward green and sustainable design. In fact, the majority consider themselves leaders in that arena.

Among the survey findings:

  • More than 60 percent of firms classify the majority of their firm’s work as environmentally responsible.
  • More than 70 percent of firms have an in-house continuing education program to teach employees about sustainable design.
  • More than 80 percent of respondents have changed their personal habits to reduce their carbon footprint.

The DesignIntelligence “2008 Sustainable Design Survey” appears in the July/August 2008 issue. It can be purchased in the DI.net bookstore.
