The first set of guidelines for green home remodeling projects in the United States has been developed.
Released by the American Society of Interior Designers’ Foundation and the U.S. Green Building Council, the “REGREEN” guidelines describe best practices and offer educational resources for sustainable residential improvement projects.
The program aims to increase understanding of sustainable renovation project practices and benefits among homeowners, residents, design professionals, product suppliers, and service providers to build both demand and industry capacity.
The guidelines are organized according to the 10 most common remodeling project types. They include remodeling projects describe by scope, integrated pre-design issues, and environmental strategies for each of a home’s systems. Also included are a library of strategies by environmental topic and case studies of successful green home renovations.
The guidelines are free and can be downloaded from www.greenhomeguide.org.
