Hammel Green + Abrahamson of Minneapolis will design the new 120,000 sf University of Minnesota Teaching and Technology Center in Minneapolis. On the University’s St. Paul campus, Perkins & Will’s Minneapolis office has been selected to design a new $22 million classroom building.
Brooklyn, New York’s Saint Joseph’s College has selected architects Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates of New York City to design its new Student Center.
Central Michigan University has selected Hobbs + Black Associates of Lansing, Michigan, as architects for its new $40 million Events Center.
Shepley, Bullfinch, Richardson & Abbott of Boston, Massachusetts, will design a new Vivarium Facility for Virginia Tech. The 25,000 sf facility will contain quarantine rooms, animal holding rooms, laboratory and surgery areas, and more. The firm has also been selected to design a new 47,000 sf Biology Building for the campus. Virginia Tech is also planning a new Engineering Facility; Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann of Washington, DC, will design.
New York’s Davis Brody Bond is designing phase one of a new 240-unit dormitory project for Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham is building two Bio Medical Research Centers. CUH2A of Princeton, NJ, will design and engineer both—a $25 million Vivarium Research facility and a three-phase, $52 million classroom and laboratory building.

Federal/State/### The U.S. National Park Service is designing and building a Heritage Education Campus at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. The $30 – 50 million dollar project includes restoration to eight buildings plus new exhibit and museum space.
Architects Bernard Johnson Young Inc. of Rockville, Md., are designing two buildings for the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), a division of the Department of Health & Human Services. The 113,500 sf project will be located in Bethesda, Md.
The National Institutes of Health Research Building in Bethseda, Md, is undergoing a $600 million renovation. RTKL has been awarded the design of phases two and three, both general interior renovations.
The U.S. Navy is adding two new buildings to its Earle Naval Weapons Station Pier facility in Monmouth County, NJ. Staunton & Chow Engineers of New York, NY will design the 36,000 sq. ft. of new space.
Ghafari Associates of Dearborn, MI, has been selected to design and engineer the new Brose North America headquarters building in Auburn Hills, MI. The $26 million office building and industrial laboratory will contain 75,000 sf.
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution has selected Ellenzweig Associates of Cambridge, MA, to design its new research facility. The $30 million project includes two buildings housing a biogeochemistry research laboratory and a marine research facility.
A new 78,000 sf Center for Functional Nanomaterials at Brookhaven Laboratory in Upton, NY, will be designed by Omaha, Nebraska’s HDR Architecture.

HKS Architects’ Orlando, FL, office has been selected to design Florida’s new $75 million Homestead Hospital.
In Pittsburgh, PA, Astorino has been selected to design a new University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Biotechnology Research Center.
Atlanta, Georgia’s Perkins & Will office has been selected to design a 500,000 sf addition to the Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville, FL.
Harris County, Texas, has selected Bricker Cannady of Houston to design a $35 million renovation of the Harris County Civil Courts Building.
Richard Meier & Partners (Los Angeles,) with Sasaki Associates (Watertown, MA) will design a new 553,000 sf, $192 million San Jose City Hall/Civic Center.
Leo A Daly, Los Angeles, has been chosen to design a new $20 million Westlake Police Station Complex in that city. The 170,000 sf project will include a maintenance building, a two-story police station and a two-story parking garage.
The 30,000 sf Cold Spring Harbor (New York) Library will be designed by Beatty Harvey & Associates of New York City.
HOK’s Culver City, CA, office will design a new $48 million Metro Jail Facility in Los Angeles.
The New York Transit Authority has selected DMJM + Harris of New York City to design a $200 million addition to its Second Avenue Subway Line. The project includes five new subway lines, 19 miles of tunnel, and eight miles of new above-ground track.
